Description: The Kaleidoscope Quilt - Where Chance Meets Intention
Join textile designer and instructor, Libs Elliott in South-West France for a week of experimentation with randomization, geometric pattern play, colour exploration and block piecing techniques. This workshop is being taught exclusively at Atelier Clos Mirabel for 2027.
FULL BOARD & ACCOMODATION AT ATELIER CLOS MIRABEL
Stay at Atelier Clos Mirabel located in Jurançon, Pau, SW France. Set in private parkland, amidst the gentle hills of Jurançon, overlooking vineyards and the entire chain of the Pyrénées Atlantiques, the C18th Manor is at the heart of the estate. Starting at 1895€ to 2995€ per week based on room choice and single or shared occupancy + your tuition fee. There are two parts to registration:

The accommodation package is paid directly to Atelier Clos Mirabel - first select your accommodation before returning to this site to pay the tuition fee. Atelier Clos Mirabel will request 350 euros non-refundable deposit per person to book your room. The final balance is due 8 weeks before the course start date. Libs Elliott requests a $250 CAD deposit to secure your spot in the workshop. The final balance of $900 CAD is due Dec. 15, 2026. An invoice for the final balance will be sent to you on that date.
TRAVEL INFORMATION
Regarding flights from Canada and the U.S. - it will be easiest to fly with Air Canada or Air France via Paris Charles de Gaulle. This is because you only need to register your luggage once and it will be transferred to your next flight which will land in Pau. From Pau Airport to Atelier Clos Mirabel, the drive is approximately 30 minutes. The team at Atelier Clos Mirabel can assist with arrival and departure transfers.

Please read before paying the tuition deposit:
Due to the financial obligations and planning, please note there will be no tuition fee deposit refunds. You are highly advised to get travel insurance. Should something arise and you are not able to attend, you will only receive a tuition fee refund (minus deposit) if someone is able to take your place. *This website displays the deposit fee for tuition only in your local currency, and the final payment invoice offers a payment method in your local currency as well. Exchange rates will vary over time which is why the cost may appear to fluctuate.
TIMELINE & TRANSPARENCY
- Your accommodation package is paid directly to Atelier Clos Mirabel - First select your accommodation before paying the tuition fee.
- Atelier Clos Mirabel will request 350 euros non-refundable deposit per person to book your room. The final accommodation package balance is due 8 weeks before the course start date. Atelier Clos Mirabel will send you a reminder. Their Terms & Conditions can be found on their website HERE.
- $1,150 CAD* is the full workshop fee.
- A non-refundable tuition deposit of $250 CAD* reserves your spot.
- The tuition balance of $900 CAD* will be billed directly once the workshop has the minimum number of participants and has been confirmed. Final payment invoice will be sent out at that time and is due December 15, 2026.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
- 25 hours of instruction, demonstrations and one-on-one support spread across 5 days
- All-hours access to the art studio for the duration of your stay at Atelier Clos Mirabel
- Use of Studio Clos Mirabel cutting mats, rotary cutters, scissors, irons and ironing stations, sewing machines with white thread, seam rippers, pins & needles. More about the Atelier Clos Mirabel Art Studio.
- Design Kit: Includes a full-colour printed block pattern booklet, course design worksheets, drawing tools (pencil, eraser, coloured pencils, small ruler), paper block template + onsite use of Libs Elliott course acrylic templates
- BONUS surprise Libs Elliott pre-cut fabric gift. Option to purchase course acrylic template set at a discounted price of 25% off.
WHAT'S NOT INCLUDED
- Travel, accommodations, food, and extra excursions are not included in the tuition fee.
- A supply list will be emailed after registration. All tools will be provided, but participants will be required to bring their own fabrics and are encouraged to bring any preferred specialty tools (i.e. ergonomic rotary cutter, left-handed scissors, favourite pins, favourite rulers, etc).
- Students also have the option to bring their own sewing machine or use the provided machines at no additional cost.
