stitch, connect, explore

Trade your everyday routine for a few days of connection and creativity in the heart of downtown Halifax. Join hosts Andrea Tsang Jackson and Libs Elliott — two enthusiastic Canadian modern quilters — for a retreat designed to inspire your next project and reconnect you with the joy of stitching.

By day, you can dedicate some time to your own projects then dive into hands-on classes led by Andrea and Libs, soaking up their expertise in modern quilt design and technique. By evening, unwind with fellow quilters over good food, easy conversation, and plenty of free time to explore.

And what a place to explore. Halifax's walkable downtown puts you steps from the harbourfront boardwalk, historic architecture, cozy cafés, and East Coast hospitality at every turn. Wander the waterfront, browse local shops, or simply soak in the salt air between sewing sessions — Nova Scotia's charm is part of the retreat experience, not just the backdrop.

Whether you're a longtime quilter or newer to the craft, this retreat is your invitation to slow down, get inspired, and stitch up new friendships along the way.

    • what stays the same, no matter the destination:

What I care about most is connection—finding a community of people who believe that creativity is sharpened by company, not solitude. This isn't about passive observation. It's a chance to be changed a little by the process, the place, and the people beside you—to leave with your hands a little rougher and your sense of possibility a little wider.

    • you deserve this time

Whether you're joining a retreat with Libs Elliott simply to take a break from your usual routine, or you're looking to expand your skills and discover your creative voice, there's something here for you. These retreats are a chance to slow down, create, and connect. You'll meet like-minded sewists and quilters from around the world—people who understand the pull of a good piece of fabric and the satisfaction of making something with your hands.

    stitch, connect, explore

I've always believed that real growth as a creative comes from stepping outside your own four walls and into the current of other curious minds. There's something about traveling somewhere unfamiliar—somewhere craft and culture still feel woven into daily life—that shakes something loose in you.

These retreats are an invitation for curious makers who want to slow down, explore somewhere new and actually make things—together.
